Honorary Councillor

Recognising positive and ongoing contribution to the Australian Rice Industry

Criteria

  • Nominee demonstrates a commitment to the rice industry through outstanding service or leadership, over a period of ten years or more
  • Nominees can be a rice grower, researcher, agronomist, industry employee, or other service provider.

Nomination process 

  1. A motion must be moved at an RGA Branch Meeting nominating a candidate for election as an Honorary Councillor.
  2. A nomination form must then be completed with representatives from the Executive of at least two Branches signing the nomination form. 
  3. Nomination forms may be obtained from the RGA.
  4. One (1) copy of the nomination materials must be submitted to the RGA at least 7 days prior to the July Central Executive meeting. 
  5.  The nominator must submit the nomination form and information describing the lifetime achievements of the nominee, not to exceed 350 words. ** Multiple recipients may be awarded this award each year depending on number of nominations received.  

Procedures for election
The nomination will be tabled at the July Central Executive meeting. If Central Executive resolves that the nomination be approved it will make a recommendation to be awarded at the annual Conference/ Annual General Meeting.
